The campsite "Waldfrieden" surrounded by woods and meadows, is the starting point for hiking trails in the surrounding forrests.

You can find an up-to-date overview of local events here.

The idyllic small town of Saarburg can be reached within a few minutes. Saarburg was founded in 964 by Earl Siegfried of Luxembourg with the acquisition of the mountain Churbelun and the construction of the castle high above the river Saar. Saarburg's historic city center and the picturesque lower town invites you to discover the steep and winding streets. Saarburg is surrounded by forests and vineyards and the creek Leuk flows through the city. A special attraction is the approximately 20m high waterfall in the middle of the city, which the Leuk falls between half-timbered houses and baroque buildings to the valley and drives the wheels of the former Hackenberger mill.

Experience the nice places of Saarburg differently by taking a 30 minutes long trip with the Saartal train. A visit to the AMÜSEUM at the waterfall, our local museum should definitely be planned. Here, traditional artisans (bell founders, printers, shoemakers, tanners, boaters, pharmacists), the oldest turbine (still in operation) and interesting exhibitions will be presented to you in this former mill.

In the city district Beurig the well-known parish and pilgrime church St. Marien, where the miraculous image of the breastfeeding Madonna can be visited.

Enjoy the 700m long ride on the chairlift to the Warsberg in one of the 50 double armchairs and check out the view from lofty heights to the beautiful Saar valley. The chairlift is also ideal for transporting your bicycles to the top.

Directly next to the mountain station is the summer toboggan run. Adventurous people of all ages experience an exciting descent on the summer toboggan run. Determine yourself with the brake lever to have comfortable or fast ride. About three great jumps and many curves bring you after 530m to the finish. From the Warsberg beautiful hiking trails lead to interesting destinations.

Further, it is only about a 30 minutes walk to the Greifvogelpark where you can observe the beauty and fascination of eagles, hawks, buzzards and owls during a daily show in nature.

To expereience the Saar at its best, take a trip on a Saar double decker ship SaarStern. For example, on a day trip to Mettlach: pass the wine villages of the Saar and enjoy pristine nature. The Hermitage of Kastel, the burial chapel of Blind King John of Bohemia, show off from a cliff high above the river. Head on to the spectacular Saarschleife, with bends about 300°. The lookout point high above the Saarschleife near Orschholz is worthwhile to visit. But there is more to see and to experience here: Here since 2016, a 1,250m long treetop path leads through the tops of a mixed forest of beech, oak and fir trees. The trail runs at a height of up to 23 meters and is fully accessible.

As a highlight the treetop path winds its way even up to a 42m high tower, which offers a unique view of the Saar's impressive river landscape.

Mettlach is all about ceramics and shopping. Explore the exhibitions of Villeroy & Boch, or in the numerous factory outlets. Furthermore, you can visit the castle Montclair.
